2019 Pegasus Award - Lucas Whitacre
Lucas is 5 years old. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor called pilomyxoid astrocytoma at 9 months of age. Within the first year of his diagnosis, Lucas went through two brain surgeries trying to resect portions of his tumor. The tumor is on and around his optical nerve, which makes it impossible to be completely resected. Unfortunate there was regrowth following these resections. Lucas has been through many failed chemotherapy regiments with no change in his tumor. In December of 2017, he was approved for a trial drug called MEK Inhibitor. Thankfully, his tumor has responded well to this new drug and Lucas has a great quality of life on it.
During his fight, Lucas has lost most of his eye sight, his ability to talk and to have a normal childhood. He has spent most of his time in and out of doctor's appointments and hospitalizations. But this hasn't stopped him from being FULL of LOVE and having the ability to capture hearts. Lucas is incredible!!
Come join us on Sept 22nd, 2019 at 7:30 am at Corporate Woods to raise money for aggressive pediatric brain tumors. You will have a chance to meet Lucas and his family too!!!
